It’s the 1st of December, which means we are on the countdown to Christmas! Aside from present buying, tree decorating and meal planning, it’s good to get the household chores out of the way as early as possible. That’s why we’ve created the Christmas check list, to help you prioritise what needs to be done and hopefully make this time of year a little less stressful and a whole lot more jolly!

Kitchen

  • Clean the cooker
  • Defrost the freezer
  • Clean the fridge
  • Descale the kettle
  • Go through your food cupboards and throw away any old food (remember to recycle the packaging)
  • Wipe down your cupboards
  • Remove fluff from the tumble dryer
  • Clean the blinds
  • Clean the windows

Living room/dining room

  • Remove cushions from the sofa and vacuum
  • Clean the carpet
  • Clean the curtains/blinds
  • Clean the windows
  • Wash doors
  • Clean carpet and rugs
  • Polish floor boards

Bathroom

  • Descale taps, shower head and toilet if necessary
  • Wash shower curtains
  • Clean the blinds
  • Clean the windows

Bedrooms

  • Turn mattresses and vacuum
  • Wash duvets and pillows
  • Clean curtains and blinds
  • Clean the windows
  • Clean the carpets
  • Remove dust from under the bed and on top of furniture
  • Put your summer clothes in storage

Heating/gas

Outside

  • Remove dead leaves from guttering and drains
  • Throw away dead plants
  • Put summer garden furniture away in the shed

Other

  • Clean pet bedding
  • Wash cushion covers
  • Replace broken light bulbs
  • Dust/clean light and lamp shades
  • Donate unwanted toys, electrical goods and clothing to charity or recycle
  • Wash the car
